Several tournaments will get underway in Michigan in the next few weeks.

The 9th Fat Bastard Wiffle Ball Tourament, in Harvard, near Grand Rapids scheduled for August 1-2 as it now moves to a two day format. 28 teams are scheduled to compete.

Curves for the Cure #5 will also take place on August 2nd, near Frankenmuth, with 33 teams scheduled to participate in three different divisions.

The 6th Pete Wyzanski Open, from Great Lakes Wiffleball Association, also returns to Midland after a multi-year hiatus on August 2-3.

Pittsfield Yards, in Saline, near Ann Arbor will also host their third Wiffleball World Series on August 2nd. They are planning on a 22 team field.

Traditionally, the WiffleHouse Invitatational is normally scheduled for late August in Essexville, near Bay City.

A hearty MWA welcome to a new “MWA,” Manchester Wiffleball Assocation! They’re a new league, located just southwest of Ann Arbor, led by Evan Bortmas.

The Fatties annual Winter Fiasco Indoor Wiffle Ball Classic, will be held this upcoming Saturday, February 23rd at The Pavilion, on M-57, just west of Greenville. The tournament will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Director David Ringler reports that the have space for a few more players. “We can take up to 48 players, and we have 35 registered as of Friday.”

The tourney is a random draw, 3-on-3 event, open to men and women over the age of 21. To register or for more information, contact them through their website. Playres must register in advance and the deadline is Wednesday, February 20th.

Fast Plastic, a national tournament organization, has added a Michigan Region for 2008, which will host four National Qualifying Tournaments throughout the state. See their link at the right for more sign up information or contact their state director. Regional qualifiers will advance to their national championship, held most recently in Texas. An MWA squad most recently earned a berth in 2004.

GREENVILLE - The Fatties are sponsoring an indoor wiffle tournament on August 23rd in Greenville, just northeast of Grand Rapids. It is a random draw format for teams of 3 or 4 and is open to men or women aged 21 and older. Check out their recently redesigned website for further details. www.thefatty.com

The final drop-in practice session is scheduled for this upcoming Monday. EDIT: With expectations of clearing weather, Monday 12-17 will be played as scheduled.

Winter Wiffle has been underway for the past two weeks, with 3-4 games per Monday being played. The reviews have been great from the players involved, including many veteran wifflers and rookies. The MWA is sponsoring winter wiffle, once again this year, at The Pavilion, just west of Greenville, Michigan.

There will be five weeks of “drop-in” play beginning November 19 and running through December 17 on Monday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Play is open to any and all for practice, trying the game or sampling rules. Cost is $5 per session. Call (616) 754-9223 for more info.

League play will begin Monday, January 7th and run through the end of February. Rosters are from 3-6 players and cost is $45/player for the season. Standings, stats and updates will be available on this site.
